Barry Bauguess is one of North America’s most sought-after Baroque trumpet sololists. This season, he appears with The Magnolia Baroque Festival, Tafelmusik (Toronto), Apollo’s Fire (Cleveland), Portland Baroque Orchestra, and The Atlanta Baroque Orchestra. Barry has performed and recorded with American Bach Soloists, Chanticleer, Washington Bach Consort, Smithsonian Chamber Orchestra, and Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra where he was a member for fourteen years. Barry's festival appearances include the Boston Early Music Festiva, Blossom Festival, Wolf Trap, Ravinia Festival. His trumpet has taken him on exotic as well as mundane tours throughout North America, Italy, Germany, and Japan performing with conductors including Nicholas McGegan, Christopher Hogwood, Andrew Lawrence-King, Richard Egarr, and Roger Norrington.

In addition to his musical endeavors, Barry is the owner of The Baroque Trumpet Shop and has served as Executive Director of the Craven Arts Council. When he's not physically attached to his trumpet, Barry can often be found either in his kitchen cooking with his wife, Baroque Dance soloist Paige Whitley-Bauguess, or on the back roads of North Carolina racing his bicycle.


 
 
 
  Patrick Dougherty has been principal trumpet with Concert Royal since 1991 and has performed with most of the leading early music ensembles in North America including Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, Portland Baroque Orchestra, Washington Bach Consort, Apollo’s Fire, New York Grande Bande, Philadelphia Classical Symphony, The Bach Ensemble, Smithsonian Chamber Orchestra, Tafelmusik, Trinity Consort, New York Collegium, Chanticleer, American Bach Soloist, and the American Classical Orchestra. He has recorded on Sony, Koch,Vox , Newport Classics, Arabesque, and Crystal Records as well as live broadcasts on NPR and CBC. He has appeared at the Berkeley, Connecticut and Boston Early Music Festivals as well as the Maryland Handel Festival. He is co-founder of the baroque trumpet ensemble, Clarino Consort and the Director of Celebrations Brass.

On modern trumpet he has performed with the orchestras of the New York City Ballet, Metropolitan Opera, and New York City Opera as well as premiering over 30 new works for solo trumpet or various brass ensembles. He has been on the faculties of Adelphi University, Queens College and Suffolk County Community College. When not performing, Pat enjoys sailing the Great South Bay with his wife, hornist Kathleen Dougherty, collecting fine wine, and enjoying concerts of Momentum, a chamber ensemble founded by his wife and their daughter, flutist Kristine Dougherty.
 
 
 
 

John O'Brien has performed throughout the southeast as a soloist and chamber musician. He performs regularly with Clarino Consort, The Magnolia Baroque Festival Orchestra, Chatham Baroque, and Baroque dance soloist Paige Whitley-Bauguess. John studied harpsichord with Malcolm Hamilton, Elaine Funaro, and Arthur Hass and organ with Cherry Rhodes and Janette Fishell. Mr. O'Brien is co-director of he Early Music Ensemble at East Carolina University where he is Professor of Accompanying, co-director of the ECU Opera Theatre, and Chairperson of Vocal Studies.
